Bigger Than Us

This film is a documentary targeted for activists and children for them to learn about the importance of preserving the Earth.

The director of the film is Flore Vasseur.

This film won the Caesar academy for the best documentary category and it has been presented at the Cannes film festival.

In this film, we discover the journey of Melati, a young activist fighting for the plastic pollution ravaging her country, Indonesia. She will meet different people in different countries and exchange with them about their actions and their convictions.

  • Melati Wijsen : the girl who went around the world to meet the different activists throughout the film.
  • Xiuhtezcatl Martinez : he is an environmental activist in the USA. He took part in a lawsuit against the government.
  • Memory Banda : she advocated for setting the legal age of mariage to 18 years old.
  • Rene Silva : he made a newspaper when he was 11 years old with his brothers and is currently fighting for liberty of expression.
  • Mohamad Al Jounde : after he escaped from Syria, he made a school in his camp. Today, his school has more than 200 children.
  • Mary Finn : since she’s 18, she’s been taking part in rescue operations in the sea of Greece.
  • Winnie Tushabe: she teaches permaculture for refugees in Ouganda so that they can grow plantations on a soil that was destroyed by pesticides.

It was interesting to see the different lives of the activists compared to what we can see in our countries. It puts you in perspective compared to what’s happening right now in the world because we can’t directly see the consequences of climate change.

We gave it 4 stars out of 5.
